# How to add product schema on Wix

On Wix you do not touch theme files, because there are none. Wix automatically adds preset structured data to Wix Stores product pages, and the way you add or improve product schema is through the SEO settings panel: you convert the preset markup to custom markup and edit the JSON-LD with dynamic variables, which then applies to every product page of that type at once. The one constraint shaping everything on Wix is that the markup can only contain what the page provides. Dynamic variables pull values from elements on your pages, so if a fact is not on the product page, it cannot be in the markup.

## Why Wix is different

Wix is the most settings-driven platform in this series. There is no code editor for templates and no plugin layer for schema; the entire mechanism lives in the dashboard under SEO settings, and Wix supports JSON-LD but not microdata. The preset system is the key concept: Wix creates preset markups automatically for product pages, blog posts, and a few other page types, and those presets are already customized per page with your actual product data. Most Wix stores do not need a new block at all. They need to check the preset, convert it to custom markup, and complete the fields the preset left out. You can also exclude the automated markup on an individual page if the default conflicts with what you want engines to read.

## Steps

**1\. Check what already exists.** Open a live product page, view the page source, and search for `application/ld+json`. If you run Wix Stores, you will find the preset product markup already there. Read which fields it carries before deciding anything is missing.

**2\. Customize the preset for all product pages at once.** In your site's dashboard, go to SEO and GEO, scroll to Tools and settings, and click SEO Settings. Select the product pages page type. If you do not see a structured data option, choose Customize defaults first. Click Edit next to Structured data markup, preview the preset, then choose Convert to custom markup. Give it a name and edit the JSON-LD directly, using the Add Variable button to pull in dynamic values like product name, price, URL, and image from your pages. When the markup is ready, click Apply, then Save. This one edit updates every product page of that type, so a catalog of hundreds of products is fixed in a single action.

**3\. Complete the fields the preset skips.** Compare the preset against the full reference and add what matters: availability tied to actual stock status, brand, and identifiers where you have them. Remember the constraint: every variable has to map to something on the page. If stock status is not surfaced on the product page, fix the page first.

**4\. Use per-page markup only for stable pages.** For an individual page, you can go to that page's SEO settings, open the Advanced tab, and add new structured data markup there, or exclude the automated markup for that page if it conflicts. This per-page field is best for pages whose facts rarely change. Product prices change, so the page-type default from step 2 is the right home for product schema, not per-page blocks.

**5\. Publish and validate.** Wix applies the markup when the site is published. Test a URL such as https://\[yourdomain.com\]/product-page/your-product, replacing yourdomain.com with your actual domain, in Google's Rich Results Test and the Schema Markup Validator. Test a product that is out of stock and confirm the availability value matches.

### A hypothetical example

Say you run a candle store on Wix with 80 products. You check the page source and find the preset product markup with name, price, and image, but no availability and no brand. You go to SEO Settings, select the product pages page type, convert the preset to custom markup, and add the availability and brand variables so they pull from each product page. One edit, Apply, Save, publish. All 80 product pages now carry the complete block, and when a scent sells out, the markup follows the page.

## What this guide does not cover

This covers getting valid, complete product markup onto your Wix product pages through the SEO settings panel. It does not cover keeping prices and availability accurate as inventory changes (monitoring work), getting AI crawlers to your pages past any access controls, or letting an agent complete the checkout, which is the transaction layer and a separate job.
